History of Megan Willis Crunch
In the spring of 2006, two first year OGSA 8U league teams were joined together to play tournaments under the name Landsharks. Later that summer, Kevin Moser & Sean Pitman partnered to permanently make one team. While at breakfast one morning, reviewing a list of 100+ names for the newly formed organization, the name KC Crunch was selected. The name was derived from the hit song by Queen – “We Will Rock You” and a cheer the 8U teams did – “We Will CRUNCH You” and from that, the team name Crunch was born.
The KC Crunch entered their first year as a 10U team competing at the ‘A’ level. They immediately lost 8 of their first 11 games, highlighted by a 17-0 loss to the KC Glory. The team decided to work extremely hard during the winter and ended up beating the same KC Glory team twice during the KC Metros on their way to a 2nd place finish. This was followed by a 5th place finish at the 10A Northern Nationals that same year.
During the summer of 2012, KC Crunch was renamed to Megan Willis Crunch. Megan Willis is the Director of Player Development and has been working with the organization since 2010. www.meganwillissoftball.com.
